The History of the carnival
This popular event was first held in 2002 as a "one off" event to celebrate The Queens golden jubilee. It was called "The Bransholme Jubilee Carnival".

It proved so popular that the group of volunteers and members of the local community decided to continue the event into 2003 as an annual event called
"The Bransholme Carnival"
.

In 2004, the carnival was renamed after it's former chair-person Stuart Harris, who died unexpectedly in November 2003.
Stuart worked for the Hull City Council's - Urban Park Ranger Service, and was a well respected member of the community. He was one of the pivotal figures in establishing the carnival, and strived to bring together the people of Bransholme to make the first two carnivals the success they were. In memory of Stuart, the carnival has now been named "The Stuart Harris Bransholme Carnival".

The carnival steering group have also created an award in honour of Stuart - to commemorate Stuarts life and the hard work that residents often put into thier local area. Click here to find out more or make a nomination.

Last years event was attended by over 43,000 people over the three days, many of those visitors being on the Saturday to see the events and displays held alongside the fun fair and circus. The events arena had 8 hours of continuous entertainment throughout the day, during which time the marquees were filled with community stalls and tombolas etc.
